Frequently Asked Questions

Questions asked by Internet users

Q: What is LimeLock™?
LimeLock™ is a service based on our patent pending technology that helps Internet users protect their contact information, such as e-mail addresses and phone numbers, when using online forms.

Q: Where and how can I use LimeLock™?
You can use LimeLock™ on any partner website that has our "Protected by LimeLock™" seal. Usually you will be asked to choose whether your information will be anonymized or not.

Q: Do I need to setup an account to use LimeLock™?
No. When used Limeock™ the first time by submitting a form on our partner site your account is created automatically with your e-mail address as the username.

Q: How exactly does LimeLock™ protect my privacy?
When you submit a form that is "Protected by LimeLock™", we record your real phone number and e-mail address. After this step, we assign anonymized aliases. When marketers call or e-mail those aliases, our system automatically relays the calls and e-mail messages to your real numbers and e-mail address. Your real contact information is never revealed to the marketers, this way protecting your privacy.

Q: What is a LimeLock™ alias?
Our alias is a LimeLock™ created e-mail address or phone number that replaces your real e-mail address or phone number. For example, our aliases would look like abc123@anon.limelock.com or (212) 123-4567 ext. 1234567. When third parties try to reach you using LimeLock™ aliases, we relay the e-mail messages and phone calls to your real e-mail address and phone number. This way you hide your real data and still enjoy the communications you requested through the form.

Q: Can I cancel the alias?
Yes. Your aliases become available to be cancelled 24 hours after they are created. You can do this directly through your LimeLock™ account.

Q: If I want to stop receiving direct communication before I can cancel the alias are there other alternatives?
Yes. We have several tools available in your user account which allow you to transfer your phone calls to custom voice mail. Those transferred voice messages are then e-mailed to your e-mail alias. We also allow users to only receive e-mail messages at their LimeLock™ e-mail address and to not relay them to their real e-mail address.

Q: Do aliases expire?
Yes. Unless you choose to manually postpone their cancellation from your user account, aliases automatically expire after 60 days from creation.

Q: If I use LimeLock™ again do I still get the same aliases for my e-mail and phones?
No. Each time you fill out a form "Protected by LimeLock™" we create a new session within your account and assign new aliases to your e-mail and phones even if you use the same data.

Q: Can I monitor who calls me or sends me e-mails using LimeLock™?
Yes. You can monitor all the traffic that goes through each of your aliases in each session within your LimeLock™ account.

Q: Are you going to contact me with marketing offers?
No. Our communication with our users is restricted to matters related to their user accounts.

Q: Is there a fee to use LimeLock™?
No. Internet users use our service for free.

Q: How do I unsubscribe from LimeLock™?
Actually, there is nothing to unsubscribe from. Your user account becomes inactive when the last alias is cancelled or expires.

Q: Can I use LimeLock™ if my browser does not support JavaScript?
Unfortunately, no. JavaScript is required to run LimeLock™. We recommend you to install the latest version of your favorite browser and make sure JavaScript is turned on. If you're not sure how to do that, read through your browser help file or send us a question.

Questions asked by owners of lead services

Q: How do I sign up for your service?
Please use the form on this page and we will contact you right away with explanations on how to sign up for LimeLock™ service.

Q: How does LimeLock™ improve my form conversion?
Having the LimeLock™ seal on your form signals to your visitors that your form is safe and additionally it helps convert users who are sensitive to privacy issues. Also, as users become more aware of privacy solutions like those offered by LimeLock™, they will prefer using web sites offering those solutions.

Q: How do you manage to create unique aliases for so many phone numbers?
We own few millions of unique DIDs (or, simply speaking, unique US phone numbers), and since we recycle each DIDs on a 60-day per use basis we have the ability to anonymize high volumes of phone numbers.

Q: Do I have to place the seal "Protected by LimeLock™" on my sites?
Not necessarily. You can still use our service without telling your users that their contact information is anonymized, but you will no longer benefit from improved conversions (since visitors would not know that you add extra privacy protection on your forms). In general, we always advise our partners to place our seal on their forms.

Q: How much does your service cost?
We charge lead companies per session (approximately - per lead). The cost per sessions is flat, and its rate depends mostly on the average phone communication statistics typical for your type of industry.

Q: How can we use LimeLock™ to monitor how our leads are being solicited by our network partners?
You can monitor the activity of your network partners per lead through your personal LimeLock™ account (log in here).

Q: If I do not have my own network of lead buyers and instead I sell my leads to a third party company can I still use LimeLock™?
Currently we are working on several solutions for affiliates. In any case, affiliates will anonymize their leads through the account of their mother-company, so unless that company is already partnered with LimeLock™ its affiliates cannot sign up for our service.

Q: Can we limit who contacts our leads using LimeLock™?
Yes. We provide API that allows webmasters to integrate special authorization module into your lead routing system. When installed, your system will be able to control who contacts your leads and you will be able to see if any violations occur.

Q: Does LimeLock™ validate leads?
Yes. We provide two extra layers of lead validation. Extra validation from LimeLock™ increases the effectiveness of lead validaton and takes away the need to employ large staff that would otherwise call the leads to validate them. For more details please see here.

Q: How can we access statistical information about our leads?
There are two ways: You could login into your LimeLock™ administrative account and see all the statistics online. Alternatively, we can provide you with various APIs that your webmasters will use to integrate statistics directly into your lead administration system.

Questions asked by webmasters

Q: Can your system handle high volumes of leads?
LimeLock™ infrastructure is built with scalability in mind. Our network is distributed and load-balanced on disparate networks to ensure that we can process your leads at any rate.

Q: How do we install LimeLock™ plug-in on our forms?
Installing LimeLock™ on your forms is easy: when you sign up we provide you with simple JavaScript code that you place on your forms, and we take it from there. It is possible to customize the code to meet your specific needs.

Q: How can we channel your statistical data directly to our administrative system?
We can provide you with an API that allows integration of LimeLock™ statistics into any lead administration system.

Q: What happens if users disable JavaScript in their browser?
Only users that use browsers with enabled JavaScript can benefit from LimeLock™ protection. Other users will use your forms as usual, and the seal "Protected by LimeLock™" will be automatically hidden from the view.

Questions asked by lead buyers

Q: Will we still be able to reach customers by phone without service interruptions?
We work with tier 1 backbone providers (Level3, Teleglobe) for our Internet connectivity. Our staff is consistently monitoring our network. We have very demanding Service Level Agreements with our providers to ensure uptime.

Q: What happens when we turn the lead into paying customer? Do we get access to their real phone number and e-mail address?
It is important to remember to collect this information from the client, even though aliases expire only after 60 days (some consumers might accidentally cancel them earlier to prevent further communication with your competitors). We help companies to get this data by reminding the consumers that in case they choose a service provider they should forward their real contact data once they choose a service provider.

Q: Who gets access to the anonymized e-mail and phone number that we receive in a lead?
Only companies authorized by the lead company for that particular lead get access to the contact information. For that purpose lead companies would require each of their network partners to register their phone numbers and email addresses. This also means that dialing random phone numbers from the group that belongs to LimeLock™ (like phone aliases from older leads) is meaningless (much like sending spam to random e-mail aliases).

Q: How can we guarantee that all our phone numbers and e-mail addresses are registered to contact our leads?
Your lead provider will collect this information from you. As far as e-mail addresses concerned, you can specify either specific e-mails (e.g. mycompanyemail@gmail.com) or entire domain names (e.g. mycompanydomain.com).

Q: If customer chooses to cancel his/her aliases does that mean there is no other way to reach him or her?
That is correct. When a customer chooses to cancel their aliases it usually means this customer is no longer interested in communication. In our opinion it would be wasteful for your salespeople to try to reach such a customer.

Q: Do you record our conversations with consumers?
No. We do not record phone conversations and we only record e-mail messages when user chooses to read them through our e-mail client.
